Southern Air Holdings today announced that recently created subsidiary Worldwide Air Logistics Group has agreed to acquire Miami-based Florida West International Airways (FWIA).
The deal is subject to regulatory approval, but when completed will see FWIA join Southern Air under the Worldwide Air Logistics Group umbrella.
Southern currently operates four 777Fs and six 737-400Fs on a CMI basis for DHL, while Florida West operates three 767-300Fs in scheduled and charter service in Latin America, the Caribbean, and the US, mostly for its primary customer LAN Cargo.
The two carriers will maintain their separate identities, and will remain in the current locations — Southern in Florence, Kentucky, and Florida West in Miami.
