Singapore Airlines continues to shrink freighter fleet

Singapore Airlines Cargo retired another 747-400 Freighter (26553). The carrier ferried the freighter to Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Airport (LDE) in late May for long-term storage.

Singapore Airlines Cargo is also due to return a 747-400F (26558) off lease soon, which will leave it with just seven freighters, all 747-400Fs. The ongoing fleet reduction is a response to a two-and-a-half-year trend of falling cargo traffic – a trend that has continued even as other Asian carriers have seen solid increases in recent months.

Whether in response to the current situation or for other reasons, Chin Yau Seng has been appointed as President of Singapore Airlines Cargo, replacing Lee Lik Hsin.
