The U.K.’s largest independent freight forwarding and logistics group said it plans to build a second regional distribution center in Bristol, U.K. The 13,000-square-meter addition to the Davies Turner facility will double the capacity of its Bristol location, providing more than 23,250 square meters of logistics warehousing space.

In spite of the premium on real estate in the industrial area known as Central Park, Davies Turner holds enough land to expand its facility to 11,650 square meters, should the need arise. Davies Turner chairman, Philip Stephenson added that the “Bristol location, which also houses our subsidiary, Davies Turner Air Cargo, has had outstanding success and expanded rapidly in cooperation with our European partners and in the wider world markets, including North America, the Middle and Far East, and Australasia.”

Completion of the facility is scheduled for mid- to late 2017. Bristol is one of Davies Turner’s primary freight hubs, with satellite branches established in the cities of Bridgend and Plymouth. The Bristol facility also works with the rest of the company’s network with premises of equal importance at Birmingham, Dartford, Heathrow, Manchester and Cumbernauld in Scotland, as well as Dublin in Ireland – with another 14 smaller branches supporting them.
