Frankfurt-based freight management software company CargoSteps is launching an accelerator that will provide six slots for interested startups, with the goal of creating a forum for the exchange of ideas between young logistics companies, according to Station.

The “Startup LAB,” to be located on famous Kaisserstrasse street near Frankfurt Airport (FRA), will give selected cargo-industry startups two new projects per year, starting in April. CargoSteps, which has partnered with Sovereign, Logistics 4 Pharma and QCS for the accelerator project, said the initiative will be “completely free of charge” for the selected participants.

“We do not want to make money with the startups, but develop solutions that help companies,” said CargoSteps CEO Rachid Touzani. “You can never exchange enough for that.”

“We have made many mistakes that others can avoid – if they are aware of them,” added co-founder and chief operating officer of CargoSteps Murat Karakaya.

CargoSteps is a freight-data management platform that was launched by Touzani in 2016. The service focuses on time-sensitive clients, including carrier that ship carog ranging from medicine to spare machine parts. It was also a winner of Air Cargo World’s DEMOvation award at the ELEVATE conference the same year of its launch in Miami.

The company is now working with more than 1,000 partners in 22 countries and is currently working on developing its U.S. market.
