GertJan Roelands, senior vice president of sales & distribution at Air France KLM Martinair Cargo, has joined the Cargo Facts EMEA 2022 speaker faculty for the panel discussion “Fueling sustainable aviation” at 11:15 a.m. (GMT +4) Wednesday, May 11.
Cargo Facts EMEA will take place live May 9-11 in Dubai for the first time. The event will bring together industry experts, offering access to emerging airfreight technology and providing solutions to challenges affecting today’s air cargo market.

Air France-KLM Group recently launched multiple new sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) initiatives: an automatic SAF contribution on tickets a voluntary SAF contribution available for all travelers, and a contribution of .05% SAF on all flights departing Amsterdam (AMS).
In 2019, KLM partnered with SAF supplier Neste to provide 75,000 Tonnes SAF to its AMS hub through SkyNRG’s production plant in Delfzijl, Netherlands. That plant is scheduled to open this year.
Roelands, who joined KLM in 1999, is responsible for worldwide sales and distribution. In 2015, he served as vice president for Europe, in charge of cargo operations, after serving as vice president of commercial Africa and Middle East in 2011. Roelands has served in various managerial positions at KLM, including in passenger division departments, pricing and revenue management and sales at KLM Netherlands.
