AlphaSky launches with 737-400F

Kazakhstan-based AlphaSky has taken delivery of its first 737-400F and will soon begin providing freighter service in the Caspian Sea region. The new carrier is dry leasing the 1992-vintage 737-400F (25102, ex-Alaska Airlines) from United Arab Emirates-based Sky One, which had placed the aircraft with Saudi Arabia-based Aviation Horizons for CMI operations in September 2021. (Photo/AlphaSky)[/caption] Unit 25102 was ferried from Fujairah (FJR) to Karaganda (KGF) on July 14 and had been inactive since April 13. AlphaSky held a ceremony on July 4 to introduce the startup as the sole cargo operator in Kazakhstan, according to reports. Unit 25102 was converted from combi configuration to a full freighter in June 2021 at the PEMCO facility in Tampa (TPA) before the aircraft was leased to Sky One by Canada-based Avmax. Sky One leased its first 737 Classic freighter, a 1996-vintage 737-400SF (27914, ex-LOT Polish Airlines), in March 2021 from Vx Capital Partners. The aircraft flew its last flight on March 28 from FJR to Amman (AMM). AlphaSky will soon join Georgia-based Gryphon Air , which recently acquired its first 737-300F (29326), as the second startup in the region to launch with 737 Classic freighters, while Georgia-based Georgian Airlines , Camex Airlines , MyWay Airlines and Russia-based S7 Airlines utilize 737NGs to support air cargo in Central Asia. Other operators in the region include Azerbaijan-based Silk Way West Airlines, which operates 747-8Fs and 747-400Fs; Georgia-based GeoSky, which flies the 757F and 747-200Fs; Turkmenistan Airlines, which added two A330-200P2Fs ; Uzbekistan Airways, which has two 767-300BCFs; and Kyrgyzstan-based Aerostan, which has three 747-200Fs and one A300F .
