Amerijet nears first 757-200F delivery

Florida-based Amerijet will soon take delivery of its first 757-200PCF (29311, ex-Icelandair). Following its introduction, Amerijet will resume operating narrowbody freighters in its own fleet after removing the 727 platform in 2018. The 757 arrived in Sanford (SFB) in December 2020 and is the first 757 conversion performed by Avocet, which also carried out touch labor for the first 321 Precision Conversions’ A321-200PCF that recently departed for Europe . Unit 29311 is owned by Nehalem 29311 LLC, which has the same Oregon address as Precision Aircraft Solutions and its affiliates. Cargo Facts believes it is likely a special-purpose vehicle that Precision set up to acquire, convert and lease or sell the aircraft. Icelandair sold the three-unit tranche of aircraft in 2020 for conversion and later confirmed to Cargo Facts that these were units 26244, 26245 and 29311, with the first two built in 1994 and the third in 2000. All three have winglets and Rolls-Royce RB211 engines. (Photo/Precision Aircraft Solutions)[/caption] Precision Aircraft Solutions told Cargo Facts at the time that the three frames had around 2,000-3,000 cycles remaining, with European-standard avionics, winglets, high-spec operating weights and well-managed engines.” The company received approval to convert 757s with winglets in 2014. The other two ex-Icelandair 757s are also undergoing conversion. Unit 26244 left Keflavik (KEF) and arrived in Anchorage (ANC) in March 2021, then went to Xiamen (XMN) via Seoul (ICN) in April. The HAECO Xiamen facility is another conversion site for Precision’s 757-200PCFs. Meanwhile, unit 26245 arrived at SFB earlier in May 2021. It is currently unclear who owns those two units but Cargo Facts believes they may follow unit 29311 into the Amerijet fleet. The carrier did not elaborate, only telling Cargo Facts that its growth plan includes adding 757s and 767s for both scheduled and CMI services, for a total of twenty-seven freighters by the end of 2022. While some of the additions could include 767-200BDSFs from DHL and new leases from Cargo Aircraft Management , more 757s could come from AerSale, which recently confirmed to Cargo Facts that it has now acquired eighteen ex-American Airlines 757-200s and plans to have four of them converted into freighters by the end of the year. Amerijet’s current fleet includes seven 767-300BDSFs and a 767-200BDSF, as well as four CMI 767-200BDSFs that DHL transferred from Atlas Air. Amerijet also has both of Titan Airways’ A321-200P2Fs operating on an ACMI basis on its behalf around the Caribbean. Amerijet launched scheduled services with a single 727 in 1989, and operated four 727-200Fs when it introduced its first 767-200BDSF in 2010. The two types operated side-by-side in the fleet until Amerijet retired its last 727-200F in 2018.
