Atlas Air opens new hangar, joins Jet Fuel Innovation Summit
Atlas Air, a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide, recently opened a new US$19 million hangar dedicated to maintenance, repair and overhaul of widebody aircraft at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
FEAM Aero, which has operated at the airport since 2015, cut the ribbon Wednesday on the 103,000-square-foot facility, where it will repair and maintain Atlas Air jets.
Atlas Air Worldwide President and Chief Executive John Dietrich said: “Our team is committed to the highest levels of safety, reliability and customer service. The new FEAM maintenance facility in CVG will greatly enhance our ability to support our fleet and deliver the highest levels of service for our customers.”
Additionally, El Al Israel Airlines, which is experiencing strong growth in demand across its freight network, has signed an agreement to outsource to Atlas Air the operation of its main freighter route between Tel Aviv and Liege, Belgium, under an extended charter arrangement. Atlas will lease a Boeing 747-400 all-cargo aircraft beginning this month to El Al, according to a press release.
Shakti Chopra, Atlas Air Worldwide’s senior director of procurement and fuel management, will join Jet Fuel Innovation News’ inaugural Jet Fuel Innovation Summit on the Trends in Jet Fuel Consumption and Economics panel on April 6-7 in Houston, Texas.
