China Airlines to launch 747F service with BOM connection

China Airlines Cargo is launching a new twice-weekly service using one of its 747-400 freighters, connecting Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), Mumbai Airport (BOM) and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), the carrier announced on Friday.

The twice-weekly service is scheduled to launch on Nov. 16 and depart AMS on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The carrier already offers one scheduled service between AMS and TPE, with a stopover at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Thailand.

China Airlines received its CEIV Pharma certification from IATA in April this year and is looking to grow its operations at its TPE base. The new stopover in BOM is likely in support of China Airlines’ plans to grow its share of pharmaceutical transport, as operators at the airport are working to improve their pharma handling to accommodate the large amount of pharmaceutical exports from Mumbai.
