Conversion orders spike in October freighter aircraft transactions

Five customers placed new passenger-to-freighter conversion orders for up to seventeen aircraft in October, according to the freighter aircraft transactions (FATs) logged by Cargo Facts during the month. This figure was higher than the six conversions ordered in September, which, although slower in terms of new conversion orders, was a particularly busy month for aircraft inductions, with ten different lessors and operators inducting sixteen passenger aircraft for conversion . Narrowbody conversion activity, particularly for the 737-800 airframe, continued to surge. Also noteworthy was the first post-launch order for the 777-300ERSF from Kalitta Air . What follows is a comprehensive list of freighter aircraft transactions recorded in October. UPS took delivery of a 747-8F (65783) from Boeing [FAT 005687]. The aircraft was ferried from Everett (PAE) to Louisville (SDF). Atlas Air reactivated a 747-400BDSF (27062, ex-EVA Air) [FAT 005686]. The aircraft had been parked in Marana (MZJ) in December 2019. Kalitta Air placed an order for three 777-300ERSFs from GECAS [FATs 005691-005693]. The carrier will become the launch operator of the type. China Cargo Airlines took delivery of two 777Fs (66623 and 66624) from Boeing [FATs 005675; 005690]. FedEx withdrew an MD-10-10F (46630) from service and ferried it to Victorville (VCV) to be parked [FAT 005697]. UPS took delivery of a 767-300F (65908) from Boeing [FAT 005659]. The aircraft was ferried from Everett (PAE) to San Antonio (SAT). Northern Air Cargo placed an order for a 767-300BDSF from CAM [FAT 005666]. Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) acquired a 767-300ER (27450, ex-American Airlines) [FAT 005673]. Mexico-based MasAir took delivery of a 767-200BDSF (22788, ex-West Atlantic), on lease from CAM [FAT 005674]. Kenya-based Astral Aviation took delivery of its first 767-200BDSF (22217, ex-West Atlantic), on lease from CAM [FAT 005700]. Qantas took delivery of the first ever A321P2F (835, ex-Onur Air), on lease from Vallair, after conversion to freighter configuration by EFW in Singapore (XSP) [FATs 005661-005662]. SmartLynx Airlines placed an order for two A321Fs from Vallair [FATs 005667-005668]. One (891, ex-Air Mediterranee) has been converted by 321 Precision Conversions while the other (1017, ex-R Airlines) will be converted by EFW. Global Crossing Airlines signed an LOI for ten A321Fs from Vallair [FATs 005676-005685]. GECAS took redelivery of 737-800BCFs (29120, ex-Corendon Airlines; and 34030, ex-China Xinhua Airlines), after conversion to freighter configuration by Boeing in China [FATs 005654; 005689]. GECAS also inducted for conversion a 737-800 (33548, ex-Ryanair). The aircraft was ferried to Shanghai (PVG) where it will be converted by Boeing [FAT 005698]. Nigeria-based Allied Air took redelivery of its first 737-800SF (36846, ex-Jet Airways) [FAT 005658]. The aircraft was converted by Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) in Miami (MIA). Amazon took delivery of a 737-800BCF (32608, ex-China Xinhua Airlines), on lease from GECAS, and handed it over to Southern Air for CMI operation [FATs 005669-005670]. West Atlantic UK transferred a 737-800BCF (32615) to the AOC of Sweden-based West Atlantic [FAT 005671]. Aero Capital Solutions ordered a fourth 737-800SF conversion from AEI [FAT 005688]. Chisholm Enterprises acquired a 737-700 (34170, ex-Transavia) for subsidiary Texel Air that it will convert to a FlexCombi with PEMCO [FAT 005694]. Colombia-based AerCaribe took redelivery of a 737-400SF (24130, ex-AlbaStar), after conversion to freighter configuration by AEI in Dothan (DHN) [FAT 005653]. The aircraft was ferried to Bogota (BOG). Canada-based Avmax took redelivery of two 737-400Fs (25102 and 25101, both ex-Alaska Airlines). The aircraft were converted from Combis to full freighters by PEMCO in Tampa (TPA) [FATs 005656; 005657]. Airwork took redelivery of a 737-400SF (28702, ex-Blue Air) following conversion to freighter configuration by AEI in MIA [FAT 005660]. Vx Capital inducted for conversion a 737-400 (28752, ex-LOT). The aircraft was ferried to Kelowna (YLW) to be converted by AEI at the KF Aerospace facility [FAT 005672]. FedEx placed an ATR 72-200F (224) with Canada-based Morningstar Air Express . The aircraft had previously been operated on behalf of the integrator by ASL Airlines Ireland [FATs 005695-005696].
