Atlanta-based Delta Cargo has added eight new destinations to its “Pharma 4” program for the shipment of products at room temperature, bringing Delta Cargo’s pharma network to a total of 49 locations worldwide.

New locations in Delta Cargo’s Pharma 4 program include Bogota, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Sydney, São Paolo, Frankfurt and Seoul. The carrier offers four categories for temperature-sensitive shipments, with Pharma 4-appropriate products including prescription drugs and some biotechnology products.

The Pharma 4 expansion is the latest in a series of recent moves to dramatically expand the carrier’s pharmaceutical transport offerings. Last July, Delta Cargo was the first U.S.-based global carrier to receive IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) certification for pharmaceutical handling. Since then, the carrier has also received approval to carry the Envirotainer RAP e2 active container on its domestic and international widebody aircraft and added Dusseldorf to its list of European stations with CEIV-Pharma approval.

Delta also noted that its ground-handling partner in Hong Kong received GDP certification for pharmaceutical handling, in addition to being CEIV-certified.
