After launching daily direct 787 flights from Doha to Helsinki in October of 2016, Qatar Airways Cargo added the route to its QR Pharma network effective Sept. 18. Qatar Cargo’s QR Pharma product was developed for specialized handling of pharmaceuticals and healthcare products and uses active and passive cool-chain products during transportation and handling.
Finland’s pharmaceutical service system that includes hundreds of clinical trials per year relies on imports of pharmaceuticals, while exports of pharma and healthcare products from Finland rose by more than 6 percent in 2016. Qatar Airways’ daily flights into and from Helsinki offer more than 70 tonnes of belly capacity, according to a statement from the carrier.
Helsinki is the 74th pharma destination in Qatar Cargo’s network, after the carrier added Colombo and Dublin routes from Doha in May and June, respectively. Back in August, Qatar Cargo signed an agreement with DoKaSch Temperature Solutions to allow its customers to lease DoKaSch’s RKN and RAP Opticooler containers from Qatar Cargo’s stations around the world.
