With an increase in demand expected for the upcoming Easter weekend, IAG Cargo said it is increasing its London hub’s time-critical service to now be available around the clock for urgent shipments.
Daniel Johnson, head of product at IAG Cargo, said that, last year, the carrier saw a “10% increase in demand in the weeks preceding the Easter holiday.”
The U.K.-based carrier initially launched “Critical,” it time-sensitive offering in 2016 to capture demand for capacity for last-minute and out-of-hours shipments. The service caters to clients moving outsized cargo – as it has no restrictions on size, weight or volume of cargo, subject to aircraft limits – as well as other temperature-sensitive shipments, such as perishables and pharma.
Then, last summer, it launched a customer service element to the Critical service its London hub, which began with hours of operation of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., local time, each day.
“Our new 24/7 Critical offer means our Critical Service Centre will be able to support all last minute and urgent shipments, whether it’s in-demand chocolate or a key aircraft part,” Johnson said.
