July cargo traffic reports give hope for second half of 2018

Last month, when the tariff disputes were headline news and talk of “trade wars” dominated discussions about international logistics, there was a wave of nervousness that swept through the air cargo world about a dip in carrier performance for the month of June. Today, the concern is still present, but the numbers released about July’s air cargo traffic from the world’s major carriers suggest that the outlook for the rest of the year may be brighter than first expected.

According to her region-by-region analysis of the July results from a dozen carriers and six major airports worldwide, Caryn Livingston, deputy editor of our sister publication, Cargo Facts, said the industry has so far responded well to the wave or protectionism spreading across the globe.
