LOT Polish Airlines said it will begin a four-times-weekly Miami (MIA)-to-Warsaw (WAW) passenger service in June of 2019. The service – MIA’s first-ever direct flight to Poland – will operate on a 787-8, which has a maximum belly capacity of about 23 tonnes of cargo.

The Warsaw hub hosts carriers’ connections between Western Europe and Eastern Europe/Eurasia, as well as Europe to Middle East/Africa traffic. CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, Rafał Milczarski, said, “Miami is currently one of the largest markets in the U.S. so far not served by LOT.” Its portfolio of North American destinations includes Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Cancun and Cuba.

The airline has a fleet of 73 aircraft, which include one A330-200, eight 787-8s, and three 787-9s with four more on order. The rest of the fleet is comprised of smaller jets and turboprop aircraft.
