Mini AN-225 raises money for big cause

Big things sometimes come in small packages, as is the case for the miniature AN-225. 

After the cargo plane’s destruction earlier this year, Ukrainian startup Metal Time developed a 12-by-11-inch mechanical design kit model of the AN-225. All profits from the kit model’s sales will be donated to Kyiv, Ukraine-based aeronautics company Antonov, manufacturer of the AN-225, to achieve three goals: to rebuild the AN-225, to rehouse Antonov employees who lost their homes due to the Russia-Ukraine war, and to educate new aviation engineers and pilots in Ukraine.  

The campaign has raised more than $37,000 so far, and model kits will be shipped to supporters later this year.
