RIOgaleão Cargo welcomes An-124-100 from China

An An-124-100/RM aircraft visited Brazil’s RIOgaleão Cargo terminal at the Tom Jobim International Airport with a 32-ton payload last week.

The freighter delivered a telescopic access bridge, sent from Shanghai, with the dispatch and handling operations lasting about eight hours. The Antonov’s specialized cargo was more than 34 meters long, 4.2 meters high and 2.7 meters wide.

The 4,000-meter-long runway at RIOgaleão is the longest in Brazil, allowing for the landing of the enormous An-124. The cargo facility, which recently completed a US$8.8 million infrastructure overhaul, can accommodate nine aircraft at once and can operate without takeoff restrictions, 24 hours a day.
