Saudia Airlines Cargo launches route to India

Saudia Airlines Cargo said it is “aiming to meet the significant increase of demand for cargo services” to India with new passenger services to Calicut International Airport (CCJ), on the Malabar southwestern coast of India.

The carrier offers 60 tonnes of capacity per week in the bellies of its A330 aircraft: four flights from King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah, and three from King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh.

The carrier said the new route will bolster its presence in one of the “most important sectors in Asia,” and “strengthen trade ties in line with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030,” the Saudi Arabian government’s initiative to reduce the country’s dependence on oil and diversify its economy, as well as the carrier’s own plan for growth, Saudia Cargo Strategy 2020.

The carrier is also building out the service offerings on the western side of its Eurasian network. In October, it launched a high-priority shipper service called “Fly Express” to offer delivery of urgent international shipments from Saudi Arabia to various European destinations, including Frankfurt, Milan and Paris.
