Dachser expands relationship with cargo.one

Logistics firm Dachser and Berlin-based software-as-as-service (SaaS) provider cargo.one are expanding their partnership to enable Dachser’s airfreight employees to search for, compare, book and confirm cargo capacity across multiple airlines.

Online platforms like cargo.one digitalize the traditionally e-mail- and telephone-based process of booking airfreight capacity, enabling forwarders to receive immediate booking confirmation.

“Some solutions promise digital bookability, but usually with no access to capacity,” said Timo Stroh, head of global airfreight at Dachser, on the decision to work with cargo.one.

Lufthansa and its subsidiary carriers, Austrian Airlines and EuroWings, are some of the major carriers offering capacity on the digital interface. As the industrywide call to digitalize operations and billing continues, we will likely see more forwarders and carriers forming relationships with third-party SaaS companies, as shippers come to expect electronic booking capabilities.
