Davies Turner doubles warehousing capacity in Scotland

Giving fodder to rumors of increased demand for logistics services in the United Kingdom in anticipation of Brexit, prominent U.K.-based forwarder Davies Turner has doubled the size of its Glasgow presence, moving to a 10,000-square-foot facility due to “a much-needed extension of our airfreight operations in Scotland.”

Some U.K.-based logistics firms have already reported unseasonably high demand for storage during the interim between the end of the holiday season and the dawn of Brexit, which will fall on March 29, 2019 – another such example being Northamptonshire-based NX Group, which indicated in a statement earlier this week that it anticipates warehousing capacity could become tight in coming months.

“From the facility, we operate a fleet of vehicles for delivery and collection of cargo, so easy access to both Glasgow Airport [GLA] and the main transport arteries is essential,” said Andrew Christie, director of air cargo operations at Davies Turner.

The airfreight arm of Davies Turner has had a base on the Hillington Park – Scotland’s biggest business park – since 2004. Last year, the company expanded its regional distribution center in Cumbernauld, 14 miles to the northeast, where its ocean and overland logistics services for Scottish customers are handled.
