Digital Pulse: Hub control system improves Delta Cargo operations

Delta Cargo implemented a hub control system in April, developed in partnership with Orga Dynamics , and is reporting “substantial operational improvements” for customers with shipments that transfer through its key hubs, according to a release from the carrier last month. (Photo/Delta)[/caption] Orga Dynamics, a startup incorporated in 2021, provides technological solutions for operations and freight volume control. The system allows Delta Cargo to streamline its transfer connection process and prioritize shipments based on scheduled departure times, the release said. Since its implementation, HCS has enabled rebooking for more than 3,000 air waybills prior to arrival, thereby reducing service failures associated with tight connection windows or known booking issues. The system has been implemented across 11 Delta Cargo hubs in the United States, the release stated. “Historically, our warehouse teams have managed operational priorities via manual processes,” Vishal Bhatnagar , managing director of global cargo operations for Delta Cargo, said in the release. “We are thrilled to provide our team with this steering tool, which enables them to more efficiently ensure on-time performance via real-time decision-making.” Following implementation, overall transfer connection performance has improved by an average of 14% in Delta Cargo’s largest hub, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), and the average offload recovery timeline improved by 24%, expediting customer recovery times by nearly 2 hours, the release stated. Freightos adds Chapman Freeborn capacity to platform WebCargo by Freightos , a digital freight booking and payment platform, has partnered with aircraft charter company Chapman Freeborn to bring additional capacity to WebCargo, beginning this month. “The addition of Chapman Freeborn’s capacity into WebCargo’s platform means freight forwarders in some 10,000 offices worldwide will gain instant access to their vast and unparalleled global network, covering routes such as Liege to Chicago, Dubai and Singapore,” WebCargo Chief Executive Manuel Galindo said in a release from Freightos. Chapman Freeborn facilitates 29,000 flights each year, the company’s regional director for Europe, Reto Hunziker , said in the release. SFS Pharma implements BlueBox solution Singapore-based courier SFS Pharma Logistics this month implemented BlueBox Systems ’ air freight tracking platform, which offers visibility for forwarders and carriers for end-to-end shipping. “Our solution combines state-of-the-art technologies and advanced data analytics to provide a comprehensive view of the condition and the location of pharmaceutical transports,” BlueBox Chief Executive Martin Schulze said in a release from the company. “Due to our data, pharmaceutical logistics companies are able to track the temperature and the condition of the transports, for example. “By doing so, they can avoid costly damage or delays,” he added. “Furthermore, they can also proactively intervene in the transport progress thanks to predictive analytics of the transport data in order to deliver products faster while preventing delays. In addition, data sharing along the supply chain ensures more trust between all parties.” Specialized data trackers for pharmaceutical deliveries can be integrated into Bonn, Germany-based BlueBox Systems’ platform, BlueBoxAir, according to the release. This offers real-time data regarding temperature, humidity, light and vibration. “When transporting temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical goods, we rely on extensive use of technology to ensure a seamless monitoring and transparency,” Guan Zhengyi , regional business process manager at SFS Pharma Logistics, said in the release. “By integrating BlueBox Systems’ data into our system, we now offer our customers an even better visibility of their transports.”
