Digital Pulse: Siemens platform integrates BlueBox data

Logistics process digitalization and IT service provider Siemens Digital Logistics has integrated data from airfreight tracking solution provider BlueBox Systems ’ platform into its AX4 logistics platform, which has more than 500,000 users. (Photo/BlueBox)[/caption] Through an API solution, the applications can communicate independently and exchange data — such as delays — from more than 130 carriers in real time, according to a release from Bonn, Germany-based BlueBox. The solution ensures end-to-end data security, since only authorized parties can access the information, the Oct. 23 release said. “We both share the same goal: making airfreight and logistics supply chains more transparent and efficient,” BlueBox Chief Executive Martin Schulze said in the release. “Airfreight remains the fastest and most secure means of transporting valuable and critical goods globally. Customers now have everything in view, ensuring that their cargo arrives in optimal condition and on time.” Siemens’ AX4 offers cross-company integration for each link of the supply chain via web or app, according to the Frankenthal, Germany-based company. It also allows users to manage transport and react in real time to any disruption. “By partnering with BlueBox Systems, we’re able to offer AX4 users greater visibility into their airfreight supply chain,” Siemens Chief Executive Volker Albrecht said in the release. “This transparency enables our customers to make better-informed decisions, streamline their processes and ultimately save money.” Track emissions on WCAworld Climate tech company Pledge has integrated its free freight emissions calculator on the website of freight forwarder logistics network WCAworld as part of the network’s Eco Program, which offers guidance for regulation compliance and emissions reporting and offsetting. The calculator allows users to measure freight emissions multimodally by entering cargo details, origin and destination, according to a release from WCAworld. Users can refine results by entering additional shipment data. “New reporting regulations are being rolled out globally, requiring shippers to calculate and report on emissions, including in their supply chains,” Pledge Chief Executive and co-founder David de Picciotto said in the release. “Pledge is committed to providing industrywide access to solutions that help forwarders and shippers comply, and embedding our free freight emissions calculator on the WCAworld website is a key milestone in this.” Emissions reporting is already mandated under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive in the European Union and would be mandated under the proposed Green Claims Directive in the EU and the United Kingdom’s Sustainable Disclosure Requirements, according to the release. “Providing WCAworld members with an industry-leading emissions calculation and offsetting tool enables them to offer their customers the data they require and helps the independent forwarding community stay at the forefront of changes required by new environmental regulations,” WCAworld Chief Executive Dan March said in the release.
