FedEx Express has launched a temperature-controlled cold chain shipping solution for the Asia-Pacific region to address growing demand from customers in the healthcare industry.
The company is now offering the “Medpak VI°C” reusable thermal packaging solution to customers in Japan, Korea and Singapore on a one-way rental basis. The packaging comes with vacuum-insulated panels and phase-change material to provide temperature integrity for up to 96 hours. The packaging also comes fitted with SenseAware, a sensor-based device that monitors the shipment location and conditions of the contents, including parameters such as temperature, humidity, light exposure and shock events.
“At FedEx Express, we are upping our game by bringing unprecedented levels of visibility and control to the supply chain through innovative means, and at the same time ensuring safety and regulatory compliance,” said Karen Reddington, president of Asia-Pacific at FedEx Express. “The availability of the Medpak VI°C solution in Asia-Pacific creates more possibilities for our health care customers with its ability to deliver in a cost-effective and consistent manner.”
FedEx will deliver the pre-conditioned packaging to the customer and transport the loaded box across its global network, with a customer service team tracking the progress of the shipment. Following delivery of the shipment, the product includes the collection and return of the empty packaging from the overseas receiver.
