Iran-based forwarder joins WACO organization

In another sign that Iran may soon playing a larger role in world airfreight as it re-emerges from U.N. sanctions, the WACO network of independent freight management companies has added Iran-based Amadrah International Freight Forwarding to its roster.

As Iran integrates with the global economy, its cargo sector holds immense opportunities, while also being rather opaque. Local partnerships are critical to gaining a foothold, according to Richard Charles, executive director of the WACO system. He explained that, “Amadrah International brings established local knowledge and expertise to our network and we look forward to developing.”

The Tehran-based forwarder offers global supply chain services and operates out of Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport Cargo Terminal. WACO, a global independent freight management and logistics organization, has membership of 110 members in 107 countries, with a combined network of more than 400 locations. Its members handle more than 1.85 million shipments each year, including 1 million tons of airfreight.
