Deutsche Post DHL Group is partnering with food-service specialist QSL to provide logistics services for more than 850 KFC restaurants in the United Kingdom. DP-DHL will manage the physical warehousing and distribution, while QSL will control demand planning, stock management and purchasing.
Focus areas for the new fast-food partnership will include reducing emissions from logistics operations to “net zero” during the contracted time, reducing turnaround time for orders through delivery schedule optimization and increasing integrity of food during transportation, DP-DHL said.
“We intend to re-write the rule book and create a stock management, distribution and reverse logistics model based on best practices from a range of sectors, including food-service logistics,” said John Boulter, DHL Supply Chain U.K. and Ireland’s managing director of retail.
