Brazil approves 737-800SF ahead of first operator

Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) continues to accelerate the rollout of its 737-800SF conversion program globally, with its most recent regulatory approval coming from Brazil’s Agencia Nacional de Aviacao Civil (ANAC). The ANAC approval gives AEI a total of eight certifications for the 737-800SF, Robert Convey, AEI senior vice president of sales and marketing, confirmed to Cargo Facts . Indonesia is currently in the works , he said, and the company is looking to add India , should an operator emerge. (Photo/Aero Capital Solutions)[/caption] Cargo Facts believes the first Brazil-based operator of the 737-800SF will be Sideral. The carrier’s freighter fleet currently consists only of 737 Classics: seven -400Fs, four -300Fs and two -300QCs, including two 737-400Fs that it operates for Mercado Libre on an ACMI basis. Sideral declined to comment on its fleet plans. AEI told Cargo Facts earlier this year when it received its 737-800SF approval from Transport Canada that it was working on obtaining certifications from the U.K. Civil Aviation Authority , Brazil, Malaysia and Indonesia. The company has to date received approvals from Brazil, the U.K., the U.S., China, the European Union, Canada, the Cayman Islands and Guernsey. Cargo Facts reported in March that there were eighteen 737-800SFs in active service . Since then, the global AEI footprint has expanded further in line with the demand for 737-800 freighters , and more conversions have started flying with the likes of ASL Airlines Ireland, Compass Cargo Airlines , iAero Airways and Air Incheon . AEI has established 737-800SF conversion sites at the following locations: HAECO Xiamen , Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering Company (STAECO) in Jinan (TNA), Commercial Jet in Dothan (DHN) and Miami (MIA), and KF Aerospace in Kelowna (YLW).
