Hyderabad to be 7th 737-800BCF conversion site

Boeing is to establish a conversion site for its 737-800BCF program in Hyderabad, its first freighter conversion line in India. The line will be housed at the GMR Aero Technic facilities in Hyderabad (HYD) and adds more diversity to a growing list of conversion locations worldwide. (Photo/GMR Hyderabad International Airport)[/caption] Until early 2022, Boeing’s 737-800BCF conversions took place at just three facilities, all of them in China: Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd. (STAECO) in Jinan (TNA); Boeing Shanghai Aviation Services (BSAS) in Shanghai (PVG) and Guangzhou Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Co. (GAMECO) in Guangzhou (CAN). Last year, the planemaker opened additional conversion lines for the narrowbody at Cooperativa Autogestionaria de Servicios Aeroindustriales (COOPESA) in San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO), and the Boeing London Gatwick (LGW) facility. Meanwhile, Boeing also will start using the KF Aerospace facility in Kelowna, Canada (YLW), this year. Boeing did not provide specifics on the India deal, but told Cargo Facts that it is excited to set up the first BCF line in the country. India currently is home to two 737-800BCFs (30643 and 28382) that Quikjet Cargo Airlines operates in ACMI service for Amazon . They will be joined this year by two (30474 and 30475) that Blue Dart will acquire from DHL . In addition to Boeing’s 737-800BCF, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) also have set up 737-800SF and 737-800BDSF conversion lines at Belinco in Yichang (YIH) , Haite in Tianjin (TSN), HAECO Xiamen (XMN), Atitech in Naples (NAP), Mexicana in Mexico City (MEX) and the Commercial Jet facilities in Dothan (DHN) and Miami (MIA).
