Transcend Aero Services begins trading latest-gen freighter conversions

Singapore-based aircraft trader Transcend Aero Services (TAS) is making its first foray into buying 737NGs and having them converted into freighters with an order for two 737-800SFs with Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) [ FATs 008305-8306 ]. TAS, which told Cargo Facts that it has been considering 737-800 conversions for around a year, will send the first aircraft (35217, ex-SpiceJet) to the Commercial Jet facility in Dothan (DHN) later this month. (Photo/Transcend Aero Services)[/caption] The second 737-800, for which TAS is in negotiations with a seller, is scheduled to begin conversion at the Commercial Jet facility in Miami (MIA) in March 2023, TAS told Cargo Facts . These are the first aircraft that TAS will have purchased and converted into freighters, the company said, adding that it has previously traded 737-300 freighters. TAS told Cargo Facts that it has already secured a customer for unit 35217. Rather than leasing, TAS intends to sell the two 737-800SFs to lessors or operators after conversion. Beyond 737-800SFs, TAS is also considering expanding to A320s, A321s and A330s in the next two years, the company told Cargo Facts . TAS’ order with AEI is the latest in a series of deals the conversion provider has signed with new customers this year, including Jackson Square Aviation , China Aircraft Leasing Group Holdings (CALC) , Merx Aviation , World Star Aviation and EgyptAir .
