MNX Logistics to build a cool-chain pharma facility at JFK

Long Beach-based MNX Global Logistics has opened a 14,000-square-foot “healthcare and life sciences” logistics facility near New York’s JFK International Airport for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical cargo, in compliance with the Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards for the safe transportation of cool-chain products.

The company’s CEO, Paul Martins, cites a heightened demand for biologics, cold-chain and medical device logistics in the Northeast United States in the last 12 months as the reasoning behind this investment. He also said the company’s main customers need “expertise in regulatory control, chain of custody, visibility and security of their high-value and time-critical products.”

The facility will have capacity for biopharmaceutical and radiopharmaceutical cargo, with strict temperature requirements of -20°C and for products requiring a range of 2-8°C.

MNX has been investing in the pharmaceutical industry for some time. In November of last year, it acquired an Australian logistics solutions company, Logical Freight Solutions (LFS), specializing in healthcare storing and transportation. The acquisition increased the healthcare aspects of the company’s business to 60 percent and expanded its network into Australia, Asia and New Zealand, the company said.
