Narrowbody conversions surge in July freighter aircraft transactions

Cargo Facts logged forty-two freighter aircraft transactions (FATs) during the month of July, nearly double the volume of transactions recorded in June . While the velocity of deals involving widebodies remains elevated, as has been the case in recent months as a result of capacity constraints related to the COVID-19 pandemic, this month saw the return of a greater number of transactions involving narrowbody freighters. Air Atlanta Icelandic took delivery of a 747-400F (26563, ex-El Al Israel Airlines), on lease from AAL Capital Aircraft Holdings [FAT 005500]. Another 747-400F (28263) destined for Air Atlanta Icelandic was returned off-lease to GECAS by China Eastern Airlines [FAT 005501]. Turkmenistan Airlines is looking to add a 777F to its fleet [FAT 005487]. DHL Express took delivery of a 777F (66086) from Boeing, and handed it over to AeroLogic to be operated on a CMI basis [FAT 005509-005510]. DHL Express inducted for conversion an A330-300 (1107, ex-Hong Kong Airlines) [FAT 005526]. The aircraft was ferried to DRS to be converted into freighter configuration by EFW. FedEx Express removed three MD-10-10Fs (46939; 47830; 46636) from its fleet and ferried them to Victorville (VCV) to be parked [FATs 005496; 005520; 005530]. FedEx took delivery of two 767-300Fs (66250 and 64060) from Boeing [FATs 005490 and 005532]. Monaco-based Stratos inducted for conversion an A330-300 (713, ex-AirAsia X) [FAT 005506]. The aircraft was ferried to DRS to be converted into freighter configuration by EFW. Air Transport International (ATI) began operating for DHL a 767-300BDSF (25447) on an ACMI basis between Hong Kong (HKG) and Sydney (SYD) [FAT 005492]. DHL Express inducted for conversion a 767-300ER (33087, ex-American Airlines). The aircraft will be converted into freighter configuration by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) at the Mexicana MRO facility in Mexico City (MEX) [FAT 005493]. DHL also placed an order for four 767-300BCF conversions with Boeing [FATs 005511-005514]. The first aircraft is expected to be inducted for conversion in the fourth quarter of 2020. SF Airlines inducted for conversion a 767-300ER (30847, ex-Titan Airways). The aircraft was ferried from Birmingham (BHX) to Singapore (QPG) and will be converted into freighter configuration by Boeing [FAT 005494]. Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) inducted for conversion a 767-300ER (29432, ex-American Airlines). The aircraft was ferried from Wilmington (ILN) to Tel Aviv (TLV) via Shannon (SNN) and will be converted by IAI [FAT 005495]. CAM also took redelivery of a 767-300BDSF (25450, ex-American Airlines) following conversion to freighter configuration by IAI in TLV [FAT 005521]. ABX Air began operating for DHL a 767-300BDSF (24317) on an ACMI basis between Chicago (ORD) and Cologne (CGN) [FAT 005497]. Mexico-based MasAir took delivery of a 767-300BDSF (24853, exABX Air), on lease from CAM [FAT 005517]. West Atlantic returned a 767-200BDSF (22217, ex-ABX Air) off-lease to CAM [FAT 005518]. Greece-based Olympus Airways took redelivery of its second 757-200PCF (25297, ex-American Airlines), on lease from Airwork [FAT 005488-005489]. The aircraft was converted by Precision Aircraft Solutions at the AerSale facility in Goodyear (GYR). SF Airlines took redelivery of a 757-200PCF (29943, ex-TUI Airways), after conversion into freighter configuration by Precision Aircraft Solutions in Chengdu (CTU) [FAT 005508]. Russia-based Aviastar-TU took redelivery of a 757-200PCF (27051, ex-American Airlines) following conversion to freighter configuration by Precision Aircraft Solutions [FAT 005519]. The aircraft is painted in Cainiao livery and is expected to operate on behalf of the logistics network. GECAS took redelivery of a 737-800BCF (32739, ex-NewGen Airways) after conversion into freighter configuration by Boeing in China [FAT 005491]. The aircraft was ferried to PAE. Amazon took delivery of three 737-800BCFs (32605, ex-Hainan Airlines; 32578, ex-Jet Airways; and 33677, ex-Neos) on lease from GECAS, and handed them over to Sun Country Airlines for CMI operation [FATs 005485-005486; 005522-005525]. BlackRock inducted for conversion a 737-800 (29916, ex-AnadoluJet) [FAT 005504]. The aircraft will be the first –800SF to be converted by Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) at the STAECO facility in Jinan (TNA). BlackRock also inducted for conversion another 737-800 (30501, ex-Shenzhen Airlines) [FAT 005529]. The aircraft left storage in Marana (MZJ) and was ferried to Miami (MIA) to be converted by AEI at the Commercial Jet facility. Frankfurt-headquartered Aircraft Finance Germany (AFG) placed an order for two 737-800BCF conversions with Boeing [FATs 005527-005528]. The aircraft are expected to be converted at the STAECO facility at TNA. U.S.-based GA Telesis placed an order for two 737-800SF conversions with AEI [FATs 005533-005534]. Bulgaria-based Cargo Air ordered a 737-400SF conversion from AEI [FAT 005505]. The aircraft (28882) is expected to be inducted in September. Bahrain-based Texel Air took redelivery of the first 737-700FC (30293, an ex-Yakutia) from PEMCO, on lease from Aviation Capital Group [FATs 005502-005503]. Nauru Airlines inducted for conversion a 737-300 (28732) from its passenger fleet [FAT 005531]. The aircraft will be converted by AEI, and was ferried from Brisbane (BNE) to Miami (MIA) via Honolulu (HNL) and Ontario (ONT).
