New International Bonded Couriers facility targets cross-border e-commerce

International Bonded Couriers (IBC) announced the opening of its fourth Express Consignment Clearance Facility (ECCF) at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport (ORD), with the international logistics company saying that the expansion will streamline the duty-free import of e-commerce parcels and other time-sensitive shipments.

IBC specializes in Section 321 shipments, the designation for goods clearing U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that are valued at US$800 or less. A large share of e-commerce orders fall within that price-point, and IBC’s investment in Section 321 capabilities may be indicative of where the market is going.

Once the Chicago facility is operational, IBC said it will operate four ECCFs, with the others located in Miami, New York and Los Angeles.

IBC said that having multiple ports of entry allowed shippers to “strategically route their parcels for the lowest-cost, final-mile delivery.” Based in New York, IBC is the largest non-integrator operating these CBP-approved facilities in the United States.

“By using our facilities, all aspects of shippers’ import processes can be fully integrated, including our proprietary IT platforms, with secure bilateral data exchange for integrated clearance, importing and delivery tracking/milestones,” the logistics company said.
