The strong demand for 757 freighter conversions will gradually weaken in the next few years, according to Cargo Facts Consulting.
The 757-200F saw a resurgence in demand for conversions in the pandemic, with Precision Aircraft Solutions saying at Cargo Facts Symposium 2021 that its slots were booked into 2023. Around thirteen 757s are currently in conversion and a majority of these aircraft will end up in service with express carriers in North America and Asia.
But that will change. Feasible 757 feedstock has dwindled and scarcity for parts adds an additional burden on the old narrowbodies’ price and difficulty of acquisition.
Singapore-based ST Engineering, which originally certified its program in 2008, has scaled down its 757 activities in favor of A321 conversions, leaving Precision as the only certificate holder with future orders.
