Early this year, and with little fanfare, Southern Air began repainting its fleet in this smart new livery. The old Southern livery dated back to the days of Southern Air Transport and the 1980s, and while it wasn’t bad, the new look takes Southern firmly into 2010 and many plane spotters have taken notice.
The new livery also represents more changes at Southern, which recently acquired its first two 777F’s, currently leased to Thai Airways Cargo and in Thai colors.
Contributor Björn van der Velpen recently spied N783SA (id: 23919/689), a 747-281F, at Maastricht/Aachen (MST) heading out to parts unknown.
23919 was delivered new to Nippon Cargo Airlines in 1988 and bought by Southern in early 2008.
