GEODIS is the latest logistics company to announce record volumes following last year’s e-commerce fueled global shopping spree. The company’s U.S. division said that it handled 2.3 million orders between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a 14 percent increase over 2016’s orders.
Paris-based GEODIS said that that the four-day Thanksgiving shopping holiday in the United States was a record-breaker, requiring the company to add an additional 5,000 temporary positions to meet demand.
“Late November and December is all about retail,” said Mike Honious, COO for GEODIS’ U.S. Contract Logistics. Honious said that daily volumes were at least ten times daily averages on peak days. “This kind of record-breaking performance requires the synchronized and collaborative efforts of GEODIS’ warehouse operations and technology support teams,” he said.
