Tigers opens Frankfurt office to support E.U.-South Africa trade

Today, Hong-Kong based Tigers Logistics has opened its third office in Frankfurt, which will start as a freight consolidation gateway between Germany and South Africa before it expands into serving trade between other regions.

The new office will offer freight forwarding and customs brokerage, and will also provide support for Tiger Rail, the company’s E.U.-China railway service that launched last summer.

“By consolidating multiple shipments into a single one, for example from Frankfurt to South Africa, which is a key region for us, we create competitive solutions for our customers,” said Andreas Niklasch, managing director of Tigers’ Germany and Switzerland branches.

South Africa is the EU’s largest trading partner in Africa, according to the European Commission, its primary northbound exports being fuel, gems and precious metals, machinery, and other semi-manufactured goods.

Tigers is expanding its e-commerce efforts

This year, Tigers also opened a new temperature-controlled facility at Dallas Fort-Worth (DFW) and expanded its presence in Shanghai to support the growth of its online marketplace “eShop,” which hosts products including wine, kitchenware and clothing. Eventually, eShop will expand into healthcare products and perishables, such as seafood, Tigers said.

The company added that it has doubled the space at both its Cologne e-commerce fulfilment center and Rotterdam facility “in less than a year” due to increasing demand for its services.
