Yusen opens first Switzerland outpost

Yusen Logistics announced that it is opening a branch office in Switzerland on January 1, 2017. The new, office, located near the Zurich Airport increases the number of outposts in its European network to 78 locations. The operation is the company’s first in Switzerland.

The new outpost will offer air and ocean freight services, land transportation and Customs clearance.

Ian Veitch, chief regional officer, Yusen Logistics Europe explained that the expansion in Switzerland “represents an important strategic step for us.” He noted that the Switzerland location would increase Yusen’s global network and decrease transport times.

The Japan-based freight forwarder has also taken steps to increase its portfolio in the EU region, adding IATA’s CEIV-Pharma certification at its Amsterdam Schiphol Airport location last November in a bid to capture high-value pharma shipments moving between the EU, the U.S. and Asian markets.
