Jettainer to manage Thomas Cook Group ULDs

Jettainer_US-Airways1ULD manager Jettainer will now be responsible for the servicing of more than 1,800 ULDs, pallets and containers for Thomas Cook Group Airlines.

Jettainer said it will use environmentally friendly containers – in both standard and larger sizes – which have been switched to very light versions weighing 128 and 218 pounds, respectively. By weighing less, the containers require less fuel to lift, which reduces the carbon footprint of the carriers.

The new contract covers Condor, a Jettainer customer since 2006, Thomas Cook Airlines U.K. and Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia. As a result, all the carriers’ ULDs will now be looked after by the same service partner.

Two of the lightweight containers in use will be fitted with a special floral-designed film wrap to mark the agreement’s launch with Jettainer. “This design underlines the idea of sustainability behind using the new containers,” says Martin Kraemer, head of marketing, and PR and the environmental officer at Jettainer. Both sizes of containers covered will initially be used by Condor and Thomas Cook Airlines U.K.
