Challenge Airlines BE to operate 767Fs

Malta-based Challenge Group intends to place two of its medium-widebody freighters with its Belgium-based subsidiary, Challenge Airlines BE. Challenge already has acquired the two 767-300ERs (29435 and 28207, both ex-Pegas Fly) that will fly through Challenge Airlines BE after conversion, Challenge told Cargo Facts . (Photo/Challenge Group)[/caption] The 1998-vintage 767-300ER (29435) departed Istanbul (ISL) for the Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) facility in Tel Aviv (TLV) on Oct. 27, 2022, ahead of its induction for conversion, while unit 28207 — also of 1998 vintage — was ferried on Jan. 23 from ISL to IAI’s newest conversion line at the Jat Tehnika facility in Belgrade (BEG). Challenge Group’s first 767-300BDSF (25588, ex-Air Canada) will become the first 767 conversion in Europe and recently celebrated its cargo door-cutting ceremony in January. The 1996-vintage 767-300ER arrived at the Jat Tehnika facility in September 2022. Challenge also has assigned one 767-300ER (30301, ex-Pegas Fly) on its Challenge Airlines MT certificate in Malta and briefly operated it as a passenger freighter before placing the aircraft in temporary storage in Liege (LGG) ahead of its conversion. Cargo Facts believes unit 25588 will also join Challenge Airlines MT. Challenge previously told Cargo Facts that it would place all four 767s on its new Malta-based airline certificate . Challenge declined to comment on whether it has acquired feedstock units for its four 777-300ERSF conversions . IAI completed another milestone in September when it converted its first 767-300BDSF in Africa at the Ethiopian Airlines facility.
