Stratos to induct another A330-300P2F conversion

Aircraft manager Stratos is increasing its Airbus conversion activity and soon will send its second A330-300 for conversion with Elbe Flugzeugwerke. The 2014-vintage unit 1510 (ex-Philippine Airlines), with Trent 700 engines, will start conversion late this summer, Stratos told Cargo Facts . The A330 was registered in August 2022 in the Cayman Islands to JLPS Leasing Virgo after arriving at Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrenees Airport (LDE) in April that year for storage. (Photo/Dan Raistrick)[/caption] Separately, Stratos said it recently sold a 2012-vintage A330-300 (1338, ex-Thai Airways) to a DHL affiliate after acquiring it in the second quarter of 2022. The Trent 700-powered aircraft landed in Dresden (DRS) on June 1 ahead of induction for conversion with EFW after “extensive rework including engine repairs, landing gears as well as airframe clearance,” Stratos Vice President of Technical John McHugh said in a statement. Stratos told Cargo Facts that it was not involved in the 2013-vintage unit 1408, another ex-Thai A330-300, that also arrived at DRS on June 1. Cargo Facts believes the aircraft also belongs to DHL. Unit 1510 will be the second A330-300 that Stratos has sent for freighter conversion on behalf of investors. In 2020, the 2006-vintage unit 713 (ex-AirAsia) began conversion at DRS . That A330-300P2F emerged in August 2021 in the colors of France-based forwarder Geodis , which had picked U.K.-based Titan Airways to operate the aircraft on a CMI basis on its behalf. Only a handful of lessors are known to have committed to A330-300P2F conversions with EFW: CDB Aviation and Altavair have already inducted their first units while Cargo Aircraft Management will follow later this year.
