Altavair Chief Executive Stephen Rimmer will step down from his position and transition to executive chairman at the beginning of 2027. It’s the second management transition announcement from the aviation asset manager this year.

Matthew Hoesley, who took over as the company’s president when co-founder Paul Newrick retired in January, will become CEO, the company said in an Oct. 1 release. Hoesley was the firm’s chief commercial officer.
Dimitrios Kotinis, head of investments, will succeed Hoesley as chief commercial officer, leading Altavair’s marketing, trading, pricing, risk and capital markets functions.
Hoesley was head of acquisitions at Altavair for more than eighteen years before becoming CCO in 2024. He was a director at investment firm Guggenheim Partners from 2005 to 2016, when the management team behind Guggenheim Aviation Partners bought the aircraft leasing business from Guggenheim to form Altavair.

“After nearly twenty-four years leading Altavair and its predecessor business, I believe this is the right time to transition leadership to the next generation,” Rimmer said in the release. “Matt has been a trusted commercial partner for many years and has played a central role in virtually every stage of Altavair’s growth into a leading global platform.”
