Digital Pulse: Puerto Rico Life Sciences Community launches dashboard

The Puerto Rico Life Sciences Air Cargo Community launched a data and analytics dashboard this week that aggregates data sources to provide a comprehensive view of the Puerto Rican air cargo market. (Courtesy/Puerto Rico Life Sciences Air Cargo Community)[/caption] The customized dashboard’s analyses, which were developed by software company Rotate , include international air cargo imports and exports, air trade demand between Puerto Rico and the United States, and air cargo and mail traffic by airline, according to a release from the community. “The dashboard is an eye opener,” community board member David Olan , transportation lead for Puerto Rico operations at Johnson & Johnson , said in the release. “Data is an invaluable tool. “The community must work together to solve challenges, consolidate flights and find direct flights. This dashboard will enable us to do just that,” he said. “We will use this tool to manage risk, present information to our corporate offices and drive quality in our Puerto Rico Life Sciences Hub.” DB Schenker, AA Cargo launch API connection DB Schenker and American Airlines Cargo introduced an API connection last month to further the digitalization and streamlining of airfreight booking processes. The API offers a more accurate and user-friendly experience for customers, according to a release from DB Schenker. An API enables two software components — in this case, those of DB Schenker and AA Cargo — to communicate. “This integration not only simplifies the booking experience but also ensures speed and accuracy, crucial in the fast-paced world of airfreight logistics,” Benno Forster , senior vice president of operations and procurement airfreight at DB Schenker Americas, said in the release. The API eliminates the need for external platform logins and enables direct access through DB Schenker’s system, Forster said. “The API connection ... enables us to work closely with DB Schenker on their preferred platform, ensuring that our mutual customers benefit from the exclusive rates and efficient service that this partnership offers,” Indy Bolina , head of global sales for AA Cargo, said in the release. Menzies to use cargo management system from Wipro Ground handler Menzies Aviation launched its Menzies Aviation Cargo Handling (MACH) cargo management system this week. The system was developed by technology services and consulting company Wipro . (Courtesy/Menzies Aviation)[/caption] The MACH system was launched at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP) in Romania and will be deployed at 10 additional locations by the end of the first quarter in 2024, according to a release from Menzies. The ground handler plans to implement the system across its network by the end of next year. MACH’s user interface offers easy navigation, cloud-based architecture that allows remote accessibility, and real-time insights and data. The system can also create and automate checklists for specific tasks. “In just 13 months, we have achieved an incredible feat, which has been underpinned by hard work,” Rory Fidler , vice president of cargo technology at Menzies, said in the release. “From a six-page briefing document to 5 million lines of code, 3,000 test scripts and more, we are excited to develop a truly innovative platform for the Menzies cargo network.” In addition to OTP, by the end Q1, Menzies plans to have launched MACH at: Macau International Airport (MFM) in China; Wellington International Airport (WLG), Christchurch Airport (CHC) and Auckland Airport (AKL) in New Zealand; Sangster International Airport (MBJ) and Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) in Jamaica; Ontario International Airport (ONT), Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Calgary International Airport (YYC) in Canada; and Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Jordan.
