Widebodies shoulder load in September

Widebody freighters accounted for thirty-four of the fifty-three freighter aircraft transactions Cargo Facts recorded in September. September’s FATs surpassed August’s by one but declined by four year over year. The certification of IAI’s 777-300ERSF Big Twin program contributed to another month of FATs led by widebody activity. Kalitta Air, which plans to operate seven of the IAI-converted 777 freighters by yearend, took delivery of four units on lease from AerCap in September. Boeing delivered four 777Fs to three carriers during the month. Silk Way West Airlines and Suparna Airlines took delivery of one each, while DHL Express received the final two units from its order with the planemaker. There were twelve transactions in the medium-widebody sector. Two belonged to Titan Aviation Leasing, which acquired from Airbus a pair of A330-300P2Fs on lease to Mexico-based Mas. Jiangxi Cargo Airlines took redelivery of its second A330-200P2F and placed it with Capital Airlines for CMI service, while Awesome Cargo also took delivery of its second A330-200P2F on lease from Air Lease. Meanwhile, the narrowbody segment was also buzzing with activity from multiple carriers in September. 7Air took delivery of its fourth 737-800F and Copa Airlines leased a 737-800BCF from Icelease. SolitAir will soon operate a mixed fleet of Boeing- and IAI-converted 737-800 freighters after World Star Aviation delivered the first of two 737-800BDSFs to the U.A.E.-based carrier. Avia Solutions Group’s leasing subsidiary AviaAM Leasing ferried a 737-800 to Shanghai (PVG) for conversion with Boeing, and the group’s new airline subsidiary, Ascend Airways Malaysia , subleased a 737-800SF from affiliate carrier AirExplore, making the Malaysian startup the first to operate the AEI-converted 737-800 in the country. DHL Express took delivery of two 777Fs (68148 and 68149) from Boeing and placed them with AeroLogic for CMI operation [FATs 10687-10688 and 10724-10725]. Suparna Airlines took delivery of a 777F (70288) from Boeing [FAT 10731]. Jetran acquired three 777-200LRs (36306, 36305 and 36307) from Air India [FATs 10696-10698]. Titan Aviation Leasing acquired two A330-300P2Fs (1789 and 1712) from Airbus [FATs 10729-10730]. CAM inducted for conversion an A330-300 (1146, ex-Hong Kong Airlines). The aircraft will be converted with EFW in Guangzhou (CAN) [FAT 10692]. UPS took delivery of a 767-300F (67981) from Boeing [FAT 10715]. FedEx took delivery of a 767-300F (67545) from Boeing [FAT 10718]. CAM acquired a 767-300F (26327) from Cargojet [FAT 10723]. Air Lease took redelivery of an A330-200P2F (1218, ex-Alitalia) after conversion with EFW in Dresden (DRS) and placed it back on lease to Awesome Cargo [FATs 10685-10686]. EgyptAir inducted for conversion one of its A330-200s (666). The aircraft will be converted with EFW at DRS [FAT 10693]. Jiangxi Cargo Airlines acquired an A330-200P2F (797, ex-Air China) from Airbus after conversion with EFW in Dresden (DRS) and placed it with Capital Airlines for CMI operation [FATs 10699-10700]. ASL Airlines Ireland began operating an A300-600F (856) on a CMI basis for DHL Express [FAT 10694]. Copa Airlines took delivery of a 737-800BCF (29660, ex-TUI fly Belgium) on lease from Icelease [FATs 10683-10684]. Shandong Airlines took redelivery of a 737-800BCF (33665) after conversion with Boeing in Jinan (TNA) [FAT 10689]. Ascend Airways Malaysia took delivery of a 737-800SF (33813) on sublease from AirExplore [FAT 10701]. SolitAir took delivery of a 737-800BDSF (34014, ex-Virgin Australia) on lease from World Star Aviation [FAT 10702]. AviaAM Leasing inducted for conversion a 737-800 (29785, ex-AJet). The aircraft will be converted with Boeing in Shanghai (PVG) [FATs 10711-10712]. 7Air took delivery of a 737-800BCF (29445, ex-Transavia) on lease from Spectre Air Capital [FATs 10720-10722]. Saltchuk Aviation took delivery of a 737-400F (28889, ex-Poste Air Cargo) on lease from Automatic [FAT 10695]. AerCaribe acquired a 737-400SF (28867, ex-CargoLogic Germany) from Vx Capital [FAT 10719]. KF Aerospace acquired an ATR 72-500 (685) from CAA. The aircraft will be converted with IPR Conversions in Kelowna (YLW) [FATs 10690-10691]. Renegade Air acquired two ATR 42Fs (317 and 378) from Zimex Aviation [FATs 10713-10714]. FedEx took delivery of two Cessna 408 SkyCouriers (408-0047 and 408-0049) from Textron Aviation [FATs 10726-10727].
