Jetran takes first Mammoth 777-200LRMF destined for DHL

Mammoth Freighters has redelivered its first 777-200LRMF conversion to Jetran, with the freighter set to join the DHL Air UK fleet. The ex-Delta Air Lines 2009-vintage 777-200LRMF (32222) is receiving additional elective and customer-requested upgrades and awaiting approval from the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Mammoth Freighters Vice President of Marketing and Sales Brian McCarthy told Cargo Facts . (Photo/Cargo Facts)[/caption] But until then, the CAA will grant DHL an exemption so DHL Air UK can get the aircraft flying, McCarthy said. “Mammoth will have all of the standard technical and flight familiarizations completed by the end of August,” he said. Unit 32222, which was on display at the Farnborough International Airshow in July, was registered in the U.K. on Aug. 13 and is waiting for its certificate of airworthiness, according to the CAA. It is the first of at least twenty-four conversions that Jetran has ordered. Jetran will deliver thirteen of those aircraft to DHL. The integrator’s U.K.-based airline has seven production 777Fs in its fleet. DHL announced in 2023 that it would source at least nine 777-200LRMFs through Jetran . Taking delivery of the first Mammoth 777 freighter represents more than a fleet expansion, Jetran Chief Executive Jordan Jaffe told Cargo Facts. He said it also validates the engineering and production quality of this program as it enters active service with DHL . Mammoth expects to redeliver several more 777-200LRMFs to Jetran by yearend, McCarthy said. Among them is Mammoth’s 777-200LRMF prototype (29742), which will be the first of five for Qatar Airways. The Horseshoe Bay, Texas-based aircraft trader completed a tripartite deal with Mammoth and Qatar in 2025. The FAA certified Mammoth’s 777-200LRMF on April 7. The conversion company has nearly completed test flights to certify the new freighter type to perform automated landings at the designed maximum landing weight of 572,000 pounds, McCarthy said. Unit 32222 was the first to be converted at the Mammoth conversion line at the STS Aviation Services facility in Manchester, England (MAN). Mammoth launched that line in July 2024 and began preparing a second 777-200LR (36017, ex-Qatar Airways) for conversion in October 2024. Another ex-Qatar sistership (36016) arrived at MAN in November 2025. Mammoth plans to complete both aircraft — also destined for DHL — by the end of the year, McCarthy said. In addition to the 777-200LRMF, Mammoth is working on completing and certifying its 777-300ERMF conversion. The company also will begin using a new STAECO facility in Qingdao , China, for its 777 conversions by yearend.
