Boeing completes National 777F order

National Airlines has taken delivery of the fourth and final 777F that it had ordered from Boeing. The freighter (70550) arrived at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) today after being ferried from the Boeing facility in Everett, Wash. (PAE). (Courtesy/National Airlines)[/caption] Unit 70550 entered service today to begin transporting aerospace parts between the U.S and Africa, a spokesperson for National Airlines told Cargo Facts . National announced a firm order for four 777Fs at the Farnborough International Airshow in July 2024. The carrier finalized the order that September, according to the Boeing backlog. That order is closed with the arrival of unit 70550. The three other 777Fs from that order are: Unit 70547, which was received in April, making it the first new operator of the Boeing twinjet freighter in 2026 ; Unit 70548, which was received in May; and Unit 70549, which was received in July. National at this year’s Farnborough International Airshow announced the purchase of one more GE90 and six more CF6 engines from GE Aerospace to support its 777Fs and 747-400Fs, adding to its existing inventory of eight GE90s, thirty CF6s and seventeen PW4000s, National Airlines chairman Chris Alf told Cargo Facts at the time. In addition to its four 777Fs, the carrier’s freighter fleet includes three production 747-400Fs (30763, 33749 and 35237), three 747-400BCFs (25238, 25302 and 25308) and three 747-400BCFs (25068, 26547 and 27217). National continues to explore opportunities to expand its 747-400F fleet and is considering additional types, the spokesperson said. National anticipates a strong peak season in the wake of market volatility throughout 2026, the spokesperson added. 777 freighter activity A number of carriers made moves in the 777 freighter segment this year. At this year’s Farnborough International Airshow, MSC Air Cargo announced it was the customer behind a previously unidentified order for five 777-8Fs. MSC expects to take delivery in the first half of the next decade . In July, China Southern Cargo committed to leasing from AerCap three 777-300ERSF conversions , with the first delivering in October 2027. The conversions will bring the number of 777 freighter variants in China Southern’s freighter fleet to three, including 777Fs and 777-8Fs. China Southern Cargo became the first confirmed carrier based in mainland China to add 777-8Fs to its fleet in June. Saudia also in July revealed itself as the previously unidentified customer behind an October 2024 order for four new 777Fs . In July, Boeing said in its twenty-year Commercial Market Outlook that the number of active jet freighters in the global fleet will exceed 4,000 by the end of 2045 . Boeing declined to comment.
