An AEI-converted TSM MD-80SF.

Aeronautical Engineers Inc. (AEI) will convert two additional MD-83s for Mexico-based Aeronaves TSM, after which the carrier’s fleet will include fourteen freighter-converted MD-83SFs.

The first aircraft (49945, ex-Ameristar) will be inducted for conversion at the Commercial Jet facility in Miami (MIA) in March, while touch labor on the second aircraft will begin in November this year at the same facility.

Aeronaves TSM took redelivery of its eleventh MD-83SF (53122) in October 2019, and is the largest operator of the AEI-converted platform. A twelfth unit commenced modification in November 2019, and is scheduled to be redelivered by the end of March.

Apart from its MD-83SFs, the Mexican carrier also has five CRJ200 SFs, all converted by AEI. The most recent aircraft (7787, ex-South African Express) was redelivered in September 2019.
