The first news from the Cargo Facts Symposium in Miami today is that the Boeing Board has granted the company authority to offer a 737-800BCF passenger-to-freighter conversion program.
The “authority to offer” is not the same as a formal launch of the program, which remains dependent on Boeing securing a launch order. At present, the only formally launched 737NG P-to-F program remains that of Aeronautical Engineers Inc, which announced their 737-800 P-to-F conversion program at the Cargo Facts Asia event in Hong Kong this spring.
We expect at least one other competiting 737NG conversion program to be announced before long, as other companies in the conversion business are known to be  considering such a move
