DAS DC-10-30F

These two pilots are deep in conversation at the helm of a DC-10-30 at Amsterdam Schiphol.

The aircraft, 5X-JCR (id: 47831/327), has had a series of operators since being built for British Caledonian in the summer of 1980.

Originally Bcal’s “Robert the Bruce” – Bcal was absorbed BA eight years later – it then flew for BA for the next twelve years. In 2000 this plane was converted to a freighter for Stansborough Investments, who then leased it to Luxembourg’s Cargo Lion, then in its last year of operation.

It then changed hands again into the hands of Lessor FCC and headed to Uganda and DAS, which was headquartered in Entebbe with it’s main European base at Gatwick. DAS put it into storage in 2006 after an EU ban interrupted some of its operations.

It was then leased to Arrow Air until Arrow’s shutdown in June. I’m pretty sure Robert the Bruce would say “keep fighting.”
