Fleet renewal underway at EVA

EVA Air took delivery of a third 777F this week, and has two more on order with Boeing.

Taiwan-based EVA Air took delivery of a 777F (62826), the third of five it has on order with Boeing [FAT 004632]. The aircraft is being acquired as part of EVA’s fleet renewal program, which aims to replace the remaining 747Fs in its fleet with 777Fs by 2019.

In related transactions, Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings acquired a 747-400F (30609, ex-EVA Air) and will put it into service with its Polar Air Cargo subsidiary carrier, which will, in turn, operate the aircraft on behalf of DHL [FAT 004633]. This leaves EVA with just three 747-400s, two 747-400BDSFs, and one 747-400F left in its freighter fleet. The last production freighter (30608) is in maintenance and has not flown since 07 August. Cargo Facts believes this aircraft will likely be acquired by Atlas Air as well. For a look at other 747-400Fs currently parked or in storage that are likely to return to service, see our post “5 idled 747-400Fs most likely to return to service” on our website.
