It has been known for some time that KENYA AIRWAYS was planning to acquire a freighter, but according to CEO Titus Nalkuni, the carrier has in fact already done so. Mr. Nalkuni was quoted yesterday in Arabian Aerospace as saying Kenya Airways had leased a 747 freighter and two 737 freighters, in addition to agreeing to acquire two 777-300ER passenger aircraft.
He did not identify the source of the freighters, nor specify variant, but said all three would join the fleet in October. Kenya is leasing the two 777 pax units from GECAS, but so far there has been no indication of who the lessor or lessors will be for the freighters.
