According reports in the Azerbaijani and Russian media, Baku-based Silk Way Group signed a Letter of Intent with Boeing for the purchase of three 747-8 Freighters.
According to the reports, the agreement was signed at a ceremony in Baku celebrating the delivery of the first 787-8 to Azerbaijan Airlines. The three 747-8Fs are scheduled for delivery in 2015 and 2016, and will be operated by Silk Way West Airlines. Cargo Facts has not been able to confirm the reports.
Silk Way West took delivery of two 747-8Fs in August of this year, and also operates three 747-400Fs and two 767-300Fs. Sister carrier Silk Way Airlines operates seven Il-76 and three An-12 freighters.
